The Wine God Sails
The mast grown into a vine, dolphins at the hull — the myth as a travel poster.
What
The wine god’s ship with its mast grown into a heavy grapevine, dolphins leaping at the hull, over a wine-dark sea — a 1930s travel-poster reverie.
Why
An original of the atelier: the oldest wine-dark dream in the canon, sailing.
Notice
The pirates became the dolphins. They are happier now.
“The vine goes where it pleases, even to sea.”
