The Wedding at Cana

The first miracle was a wine miracle — water into wine so the party could go on.

What

Crespi’s crowded wedding feast at the moment the water becomes wine — a servant hauling the great jars, a woman at the right lifting a filled glass to the light to be sure.

Why

The oldest endorsement wine ever got: the first of the miracles was performed so a wedding would not run dry. A faithful reproduction of a public-domain painting at The Art Institute of Chicago.

Notice

Follow the raised glass at the right edge — the painting’s own proof that the miracle worked.

“The good host is the one who never lets the table go empty.”
